14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:14-16)
Father there is no lack of opinions and ideas about what we are to believe and follow in this world. There are many deceiving doctrines that would lead us away from you. We are pressured on every side to compromise worshiping you alone and live our lives in ways that you oppose. So Lord, help us to hold to your Word which is loving truth. Help us to grow up into the likeness of Jesus in our mind, emotions, and will and not away from you. Give us the faith to trust your word and ways more than our own and more than those who oppose you or are indifferent to you. And through your Word, bring the clarity of your truth to the confusion of our circumstances. Teach us to entrust our ways to you rather than leaning on our own understanding, and acknowledge you in all our ways. Equip your body, the church, to work together to love one another and to build one another up toward being complete and whole in Jesus.
